My Approach

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy is a holistic talk therapy approach that encourages you to explore your past experiences and unconscious thoughts to gain self-awareness about your current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I believe our early childhood experiences and unconscious mind shape how we are today, and in order to create lasting healing change we need to examine these elements.

Somatic Therapy

Somatic therapies, including Somatic Experiencing (SE™), are body-centered therapy approaches that emphasize the connection of mind and body to resolve symptoms of stress, shock, and trauma that accumulate in our bodies and nervous systems. Somatic tools include:

  • Grounding: calming the nervous system through present moment mindfulness techniques such as deep breathing

  • Resourcing: increasing your sense of choice and safety

  • Somatic Awareness: staying with the sensations of the body, and leaning towards description rather than interpretation

  • Titration: pendulating or oscillating between tolerable small amounts of distress and resourcing & grounding

  • Sequencing: tracking any movement of somatic tension as it releases or discharges during therapy

Client Centered Therapy

Therapy that centers the client helps you to find your own solutions and take charge of your therapy. My role is not to judge or advise, but to provide a supportive environment to empower you to be the expert on your own life.

My approach also holds a strong social justice lens. As we work together to help you feel empowered in your life, we may actively discuss how systems of power, privilege, and oppression shape our identities and define our life experiences.
